This gorgeous boy, named Hugo after the creator of Les Miserables, sadly has had a miserable life. Kept outside his entire life by someone that wanted an alert dog for his car repair business. Hugo was a very bad guard dog as he only has gentle kisses for all that cross his path. No longer needed when the owner moved he was brought to the SPCA to be euthanized, just like throwing out the trash.

The shelter thought he was such a nice dog they did not put him to sleep but with the conditions and stress of the environment Hugo got very sick. Abandoned by the only owner he knew and now horribly sick with kennel cough, Hugo's spirit is broken, his eyes are sad and empty and his soul is defeated.

Sometimes in rescue there are dogs that touch a special place, that tug at the heart strings just a little more. Hugo is one of those dogs. We could not stand by and see such a handsome and proud dog suffer, so Hugo was pulled from the SPCA and taken to a vet for boarding and treatment.
