AVAILABLE ROTTWEILERS

All of our adoptions go through a defined and proven process which has allowed us to have many dogs rehomed into their forever homes. We have a very low return rate as we are dedicated to policy of "best fit" - meaning the "right dog" in the "right home".

Our adoptive homes must fill out an application, have a telephone interview, all references will be checked and a volunteer will visit your home to meet you and your family - we try to get to know our adoptive homes as well as we know our dogs. We do our "matchmaking" by getting to know our potential adoptive homes as well each individual dog in the rescue. That way we can set up dog and home in accordance to their lifestyles and experience level. We are not like a pound....we do reference checks, and a home visit to meet the potential home. All our dogs live in foster homes, not kennels, so we get to know them too.....they are all altered, vaccinated, micro chipped, HW tested and anything else they need to be in the best possible health prior to adoption. We also temperament-test all dogs prior to acceptance into the program, and our foster homes allow us to continue to assess the dogs in a real home environment.

Available

Sadly there is no shortage of Rottweilers needing homes - we have many great dogs in our program looking for wonderful forever homes. As explained in the text above .. we place "best fit" ... so if you are interested in opening your heart and home to a rescue dog please fill in the OnLine Application below.

There are always more dogs waiting to come into our program then we can help. Sadly, only those who have been lucky enough to secure a foster home have been able to enter. We can never have enough foster homes to deal with the dogs that have been picked up as strays or dumped into shelters. The dogs listed here do not always include the most recent additions to our program as we get to know them a little through their foster family before listing them as available. If you have dog experience and could find it in your heart to open your home to a Rottie in need - we're always looking for foster homes

CHARLIE

Can you see the "fun" in those eyes?

At under 2 years of age Charlie has personality plus and wonderful zest for life. The victim of divorce, Charlie found herself homeless and in danger of euthanization at the local shelter. At pretty much the 11th hour Charlie was saved and placed in boarding until a foster home could be found for her.

We often tell the dogs that come into our program that "today is the first day of the rest of your life" and that certainly held true for Charlie, as luck would have it, a wonderful foster home stepped forward to assist and Charlie has blossomed in their care. While it was obvious that she had not had much structure in her past life, Charlie has responded with enthusiasm to the training her foster family has done with her. She is currently living happily with 2 male Rottweilers, has learnt her basic obedience commands and has been a very good girl in the house (with only one pork roast episode to her credit).

Because of her age this young girl will require not only exercise and attention, but consistency in training. Her foster Dad said it best - "Charlie is pretty much a blank slate, she can pretty much be molded into just about any flavour of companion the new owner chooses". This girl is very smart and adapts well to strange/unfamiliar situations quickly.

Charlie is good with other dogs, and while not aggressive with small animals her interest can be overwhelming so she would do best in a home with no cats or little dogs. Children over the age of 10 would be best as she can lack grace in her expression of love of life and people.

KISHA

Kisha is Rotti girl (with a bit of hound in her), approximately 8-9 months old, who was saved at the last minute from certain death! When she first arrived at her foster home it was obvious she had spent the first few months of her short life chained outside. She was unruly, not house broken and knew nothing about being a dog, or sharing a home with people and dogs!

But she turned out to be a diamond in the rough! She is now housebroken, crate trained, will sit and wait for her food, knows come, sit, down, stand and stay (for short periods). She is also doing very well on her leash training. She is a wonderful, happy, loving girl, full of puppy pep and joy! Kisha is thriving in her foster home with 4 fur boys to keep her busy, and she has come such a long way in such a short period of time!

There isn’t anything or anyone that Kisha doesn’t love – people, children, dogs, cats. She doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, just an eagerness to please and be loved. Kisha is VERY treat motivated and easily trained (especially with treats) and we are already seeing signs of her potential to grow into a wonderful, obedient girl – willing to you give you hours of joy! She would excel in training and even agility, given the opportunity. Kisha is looking for a home that will continue with her socialization and obedience training! A fully fenced yard and a play mate, if possible.

DIAMOND

Diamond ... is exactly as her name suggests .... A jewel of a girl - a diamond in the rough. Diamond hasn't been very lucky up until now, her previous owner abandoned her at a local pound when he reportedly moved into a group home and this pretty 4 year old Rottweiler was in imminent danger of loosing her life as this particular pound does not keep dogs very long before they euthanize.

But Diamond worked her magic, and before long the pound keeper was wrapped around her little paw and he kept her safe for as long as he could, in a blessing of fate a temporary foster home agreed to give Diamond sanctuary ... essentially saving her life. Diamond's luck was changing for the best.

Once in her foster home it was discovered that Diamond was still lactating, a sure sign that she has recently be separated from pups. This poor girl had been through a lot in her short life .. but we can at least now ensure it only gets better from here. Diamond has a clean bill of health and is ready for a new home. She is extremely social and friendly with men and woman, will wiggle her entire back end when greeting you. She has not had much exposure to other dogs, and while reactionary when she first sees them, if introduced properly she is fine with a large breed male. Homes with kitties and small dogs are not going to work for Diamond and neither will homes with children under 10.

CHI

Chi is a 120 lb rottweiler (possible mastiff mix) that was going to be put down by his last owners, simply because they no longer wanted to care for him. Thankfully Chi was saved by a good samaritian but she could only offer him temporary shelter and contacted Adopt-a-Rott.

Chi is a big suck, but he is also a big dog, weighing 120+ lbs. He needs an owner with experience in handling large dogs, and an owner who can calmly and confidently assert leadership without being aggressive. Chi is very obedient, walks well, plays gently, and loves face rubs. He is actually quite submissive, and will easily give you his belly or lie down on his side. He gets along with most other balanced dogs, and has enjoyed meeting new people. He can sit, lie down, stay, shake a paw (both), give hugs, catch, fetch (for short games, as he tires of this fairly quickly), drop items on command, and knows 'come' and 'away'. He is low-energy, and requires little more than a couple good walks a day. He trots on occasion if asked, but is not a runner. .

Chi is very affectionate and loves scratches and sitting on people. However, he is a large, powerful breed, and would be best in a home with adults only.
